Carrie Abrams-Ott has taught secondary mathematics for 9 years, holding teaching positions at Kenwood Academy, a South Side school in Chicago and Walther Payton College Prep, a magnet school in Chicago. While at Kenwood she became comfortable in teaching a variety of mathematical topics to a variety of students: in fact she taught pre-algebra to special needs students, BC Calculus, and most classes in between. At Payton she refined her own teaching skills while being exposed to talented teachers who are as serious about teaching as they are about mathematics. Abrams-Ott has earned her National Board for Teaching and Professional Standards as well as a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. In 2009, Carrie became an instructional coach for EDC’s CME Project Instructional Design System (IDS) in Chicago Public Schools, where she supports teachers’ mathematics growth and classroom practice. She looks forward to continuing her work with CPS teachers as they prepare to teach Algebra and Geometry.
