Matt McLeod has taught middle school mathematics for 8 years in Chicago Public Schools (CPS). Being right in the middle of an urban school district, he has taught the full spectrum of students and topics, including arithmetic to quadratics. With an undergraduate degree in engineering, the mathematics was there, but the pedagogy and group dynamic of a classroom full of adolescents was a new challenge. He earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from University of Illinois at Chicago. In 2009, Matt became an instructional coach for EDC’s CME Project Instructional Design System (IDS) in Chicago Public Schools. In this capacity, he is working with teachers who have 8th grade students in a high school Algebra course. He thoroughly enjoys supporting teachers’ growth in mathematics and teaching.
